This device has been designed keeping in mind the camera requirements of photography lovers. Here we shall analyse the features provided on Oppo R5.

General

Oppo R5 was officially launched on November 9, 2017. This device is a smartphone operating on Google’s very own and latest Android v7.1 (Android Nougat) OS. It supports dual SIMs with GSM-type network connectivity.

Both the SIMs that can be used on this device has to be nano compulsorily. Oppo R5 supports LTE network along with traditional 3G and 2G networks. There is a fingerprint mounted for extra security. Hence the maker has provided with all the best possible features that can help the users.

Design and Display

Oppo R5 has dimensions 156.5 x 76 x 7.5 mm, and it weighs 152 grams which is slightly higher compared to other smartphones in the same price segment. The device has been built from metal on both front and back. There are two colour variants in particular namely, black and gold. The display on this device is humongous 6 inch.

The display supports 1080 x 2160 pixel resolution, and it has a pixel density of 402 pixels per inch. The pixel density on this device is best in class as compared to other devices. Oppo R5 has an IPS LCD type display which means there are no glares when viewing from any angle. It is a touchscreen device and supports capacitive touch with multi-touch up to 10 points.

78.11% is the screen to body ration which means the device won’t be looking like a brick. Hence from a design and display point of view, it is one of the best devices available in the market.

Performance and Storage

This device works on MediaTek MT6763T processor. It contains an octa-core Cortex A53 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz. The processor has a 64bit architecture which makes it efficient to handle many tasks and manage battery. Graphics on this device are handled by Mali-G71 MP2 which can help high graphics game perform smoothly.

The RAM on this device is 4GB which can multi-task very fast as compared to other low RAM devices. The internal storage provided on this device is 32GB out of which roughly 11GB may be allocated for OS and system apps. One can expand the memory using a memory card up to 256GB. Additionally, this device also supports USB-OTG.

Camera and Battery

There are two cameras on this device, one on the rear side and the other one on the front side. The rear camera has a CMOS image sensor which provides the camera ability to sharp images. The device is enabled with autofocus, and it has an aperture f1.8. Surprisingly the device doesn’t support Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

The rear camera also has a LED flash to capture a bright image in the dark areas. Images are captured in 4616 x 3464 resolution in the rear camera. There is no manual mode provide, but one can set exposure compensation and ISO from settings. There are two modes in which one can shoot images namely, continuous shooting and high dynamic range (HDR). Camera features include digital zoom, auto flash, touch-to-focus and face detection.

The videos are recorded in full HD resolution (1080 x 1920) at 30 frames per second. The front camera is a 20MP shooter which can be called best in class with devices in same price segment. The aperture for front camera is f2.0. The device is powered by a 3200mAh battery, and it is a Li-ion type. The battery cannot be replaced by a user.

Hence from the use of the camera, it is a device that can offer the best selfies for the image lovers. The battery backup is also sufficient enough that can help the user to enjoy the device at its best.

Network and Connectivity

Oppo R5 supports nano-SIMs and can operate on dual SIM. The device supports 4G, 3G and 2G network types; VoLTE feature is provided for high-quality communication. The device is enabled with Wi-Fi 802.11 a//b/g/n clocked at 5GHz for wireless connectivity. One can also share his/her internet connection with mobile hotspot feature.

Bluetooth v4.2 is provided for wireless transfer. Navigation can be fulfilled by GPS provided on the device. Charging and synchronization can be done by micro USB 2.0

The fingerprint sensor is provided on the rear side and is highly secure. A 3.5mm headphone jack enables the user to listen to music directly in the ear.

Verdict

Oppo F5 price in India is declared to be 18,500 INR, and for that price, it is a bang for the buck device. However, in this segment the device has to face tough competition.
